Newton's Second Law
\[ F = m \cdot a \]
\[ g = 10 \, \frac{m}{s^2} \]

(Worked Examples)
الحل: \(\;a=\frac{F}{m}=\frac{10}{2}=5\;\frac{m}{s^2}\)
الحل: \(\;a=\frac{12}{3}=4\;\frac{m}{s^2}\)
الحل: \(\;a=\frac{6}{1.5}=4\;\frac{m}{s^2}\)
Newton's Second Law states that: "The net force acting on a body produces an acceleration that is directly proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass of the body."
That means: The greater the force, the greater the acceleration. The greater the mass, the smaller the acceleration.
It is expressed mathematically as:
\[ F = m \cdot a \]
In this simulation, Stage 1: Relationship between acceleration and force (constant mass)
Acceleration vs Force (constant mass) - Consider:
\[ g = 10 \, \frac{m}{s^2} \]
The surface must be smooth (frictionless)
Total system mass is constant - change the tension force each time and calculate the acceleration
Change the force by removing 100 g from the cart and adding 100 g to the hanging mass
📊 Stage 1: Data Table & Graph (Acceleration vs Force)
📝 Experiment Instructions:
1. Use the simulation above to change the force (remove 100g from cart, add to hanging mass)
2. Read the acceleration and tension force values from the simulation
3. Enter the values in the fields below and click "Add Point"
4. The point will be added to the table and graph automatically
💡 Note: The graph starts empty and will be drawn gradually as you add each data point!

Acceleration (m/s²)
➕ Add New Data Point
Data points: 0
📊
Enter experiment data to plot the graph
(Points and line will appear automatically)
📌 Hint: The more points you add, the more accurate the graph will show the relationship between force and acceleration
Stage 2: Relationship between acceleration and mass (constant force)
Keep the tension force constant and change the cart mass by typing the mass value in the input icon
Perform the experiment, each time increase the cart mass without adding it to the hanging mass
Record the total mass and acceleration, then plot acceleration vs 1/mass
📊 Stage 2: Acceleration vs 1/Mass
📝 Experiment Instructions:
1. Keep the tension force constant in the simulation above
2. Change the cart mass (type the mass value in the designated input)
3. Read the acceleration and total mass values from the simulation
4. Enter the values in the fields below - 1/mass will be calculated automatically
5. The graph will be drawn gradually as you enter each data point
💡 Note: The graph starts empty and will be drawn as you add each new point!

📌 Hint: The graph should be a straight line showing the direct relationship between acceleration and 1/mass
📚 Solved + Practice Problems (Newton's Second Law)

📝 Practice Problems (No Solution)
- A force of \(20\,N\) acts on a body of mass \(4\,kg\).
1) Find the acceleration.
2) What happens if the force is doubled?
- A body of mass \(5\,kg\) accelerates at \(2\,\frac{m}{s^2}\).
Find the applied force.
- In Stage 1 (constant mass): Use \(m=2kg\) and forces \(4N, 6N, 8N, 10N\).
Make a table and plot \(a\) vs \(F\).
- In Stage 2 (constant force): Keep \(F=10N\) and use masses \(m=1, 2, 3, 4\,kg\).
Record acceleration and plot \(a\) vs \(\frac{1}{m}\).
